Assistant Principal of Instruction

Position Summary The Assistant Principal of Instruction serves as the school’s lead instructional manager and is responsible for building and maintaining a strong culture of instructional coaching, teacher development, and academic excellence. This role exists to ensure that every teacher receives meaningful coaching, actionable feedback, and ongoing support that leads to measurable student growth and stronger instructional practice. The AP of Instruction directly develops instructional coaches while also supporting teachers through observations, walkthroughs, instructional planning, and data-driven coaching cycles. This role is highly visible, student-centered, and classroom-based. The AP of Instruction is expected to spend the majority of the day on the floor in classrooms coaching teachers, calibrating instruction, modeling best practices, facilitating planning conversations, and supporting implementation in real time. This role is ideal for a leader who believes deeply in developing teachers through relationships, accountability, collaboration, and embedded instructional support rather than compliance-driven management. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping teachers grow in their craft while ensuring students experience rigorous, joyful, and engaging instruction every day. Accountable Outcomes Academic growth and achievement across the school Impact and effectiveness of instructional coaches Strong implementation of coaching systems, PLCs, walkthroughs, and internalization structures Teacher satisfaction and growth through coaching and instructional support Strong curriculum implementation and instructional rigor across classrooms Maintaining a highly visible, classroom-centered leadership presence Recommended Requirements & Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Valid Tennessee teaching license required Tennessee Instructional Leadership License preferred Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably elementary Minimum 2 years of instructional coaching or school leadership experience Demonstrated record of improving student achievement outcomes Strong knowledge of elementary literacy and math instruction Experience leading PLCs, data meetings, and teacher coaching cycles Strong understanding of curriculum implementation and instructional planning Ability to analyze student achievement data and create action plans Preferred Characteristics Highly visible and relationship-driven leader Strong classroom presence and instructional credibility Skilled in giving direct, actionable feedback Believes deeply in teacher development and coaching Comfortable modeling lessons and coaching in real time Strong sense of urgency and accountability Solutions-oriented and collaborative Committed to being classroom-centered rather than office-centered Application Information Priority application deadline: Friday, May 29th Tags Admin, Elementary, Leadership #J-18808-Ljbffr
