Position Details Title: Cloud & Systems Administrator Job Code: JC-522976 Position #(s): 800-762-1402-026 Classification: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I (A: $6,513.00 - $8,729.00; B: $7,163.00 - $9,599.00; C: $7,864.00 - $10,537.00) # Positions: 1 Work Location: Sacramento County Telework: Hybrid Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Responsibilities Under the direction of the IT Supervisor II, the Cloud Infrastructure Engineer serves as a technical specialist responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and optimizing cloud‑based infrastructure to support CDSS mission‑critical applications and services. These systems deliver secure, reliable, and scalable platforms for programs serving vulnerable Californians, including child welfare, adult protective services, and public assistance. The incumbent collaborates with architects, security teams, developers, and program stakeholders to advance CDSS’s cloud adoption strategy, ensure compliance with state data security policies, federal regulations, and cost‑effective resource management in a hybrid/multi‑cloud environment. Qualifications Experience deploying scalable environments using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep, and managing consistency across development, test, and production environments. Proficient in implementing Least Privilege and Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) across on‑prem Active Directory and Cloud IAM roles to protect sensitive social services data. Demonstrated ability to identify and remediate cloud sprawl or unnecessary resource spending without impacting system performance (cost optimization). Experience remediating high‑severity vulnerabilities, balancing patch urgency with system uptime (e.g., using MECM/SCCM). Capacity to provide guidance to junior staff, including creating runbooks or SOPs for knowledge transfer within the team. Special Requirements Position requires a cleared background investigation prior to hiring. Position subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
