Project Manager I - Design-Build Drainage Engineering

What We're Looking ForThe time is right to join HNTB’s growing Design Build (DB) Organization! We are seeking candidates for a Drainage Project Manager with demonstrated experience on fast-paced transportation infrastructure projects. This role is a key member of project leadership teams, responsible for proactively managing budget, schedule, technical requirements, and contractual obligations; provides high-level technical tasks while managing and reviewing design elements such as specifications, calculations, reports, and plans. This individual will accomplish HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction on every project through coordination with internal and external partners and cross-discipline teams to address and solve design-related issues or concerns.What You'll Do:Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll Need:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience2 years task management or Deputy PM experienceWhat You'll Bring:Drainage, Stormwater, Water Quality, and Surface Water DesignLead project teams in the development of hydrologic and hydraulic models, drainage calculations, plans and specificationsCoordination with other disciplines to assure a fully integrated designWorking with project managers, other discipline leads, and contracting partners to provide engineering to develop cost estimates and identify risks for job pursuits.Developing scopes, fees and workplans to execute projects on aggressive schedules.Assigning tasks and directing the design to provide quality, on-time deliverables.Acting as a subject matter expert and providing senior review of designs, proposals, fee estimates, and scopes of work for projects nationwide.Proficient with standard industry software (Microstation, InRoads Drainage, GEOPAK Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Storm CAD, HEC-RAS 1D & 2D, SWMM, PondPack, Culvert Master, Flow Master, HydroCAD etc.)Knowledge of, or ability to quickly identify, stormwater and associated permitting requirements of clients, local, state, and federal agencies that may be involved with projects.What We Prefer: Master’s degree in Engineering15+ years relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) certification, and the ability to obtain PE in multiple statesExcellent communication skillsFamiliarity with construction methods and the ability to optimize designs accordingly.Familiarity with permitting on the federal, state and local level.California Professional Engineer (PE) license Additional InformationClick here for benefits information: HNTB Total RewardsClick here to learn more about Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteranVisa sponsorship is not available for this position.#RN.Locations:Kansas City, MO, Oakland, CA..The approximate pay range for the California San Francisco Bay Area is $158,688.55 - $248,205.18.
