B. Riley Securities' Healthcare Equity Research team is seeking a Senior Analyst (or VP-level candidate ready to step into lead coverage) to own and build our MedTech, Diagnostics & Tools and Healthcare Services franchise. This individual has unique opportunity to focus on two connected themes, (1) enabling technologies that in many cases sit upstream and alongside therapeutics development, but with applications spanning the broader healthcare ecosystem including providers, payers, and care delivery; and (2) specialty healthcare services models, particularly clinic-based and site-of-care platforms where specialty drug administration, novel treatment modalities, and care delivery economics intersect. The mandate also extends to special-situation business models where strong stock-picking skills and entrenched industry relationships drive differentiated calls. The analyst will collaborate closely with our industry-leading biopharma research franchise in executing thematic conferences, with opportunities to develop standalone events over time as various sub-verticals scale. Key Responsibilities Lead published coverage across MedTech, Diagnostics & Tools, and Healthcare Services, including initiations, earnings, and thematic work. Develop differentiated, evidence-driven theses on enabling technology platforms: precision diagnostics, AI-enabled workflows, tools and instrumentation serving drug development, and next-generation medical technologies. Cover specialty healthcare services and site-of-care models, including clinic-based platforms for specialty therapeutics administration, interventional psychiatry, oncology care delivery, and other treatment-setting businesses where drug and service economics converge. Identify and underwrite special-situation business models where valuation dislocations, structural transitions, or misunderstood unit economics create asymmetric risk/reward Own revenue builds, financial models, and valuation frameworks across both commercial-stage and earlier platform-driven names. Partner with our therapeutics franchise on thematic conference programming, and drive corporate access, non-deal roadshows, and standalone investor events within the vertical. Communicate views with speed and conviction around catalysts, in daily partnership with sales and trading. Mentor associates and contribute to a team culture built on rigor, integrity, and intellectual honesty. Required Qualifications 5+ years in equity research (sell-side or buy-side) with meaningful exposure to medtech, diagnostics/tools, healthcare services, or adjacent healthcare enabling technologies. Demonstrated authorship on published research, ideally including initiations of earlier-stage or platform-driven companies. Strong financial modeling and valuation capability across profitable and pre-profitability business models, including care delivery unit economics. Established industry relationships across the MedTech/Diagnostics tools and healthcare services ecosystem, or demonstrated ability to build them. Series 86/87 (or ability to obtain promptly; sponsorship provided). Preferred Qualifications Prior lead or co-lead coverage experience, or a VP currently positioned behind an established senior analyst. Operating, clinical, or industry background in diagnostics, tools, medical devices, or specialty care delivery.
