Job Summary and Qualifications

The Lactation Consultant utilizes evidenced based knowledge to promote breastfeeding and to support breastfeeding families.The Lactation Consultant serves the following age groups on a regular basis: Neonates, Infants, Adolescents, and Adults.

What you will do in this role:

• Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
• Communicate in written form
• Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
• Trouble-shoot medical equipment
• Solve problems requiring interpretation
• Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Temperature Changes: variations in temperature from hot to cold
• Wet: frequent contact with water or other liquid
• Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction
• Hazards: conditions where there is danger to life, body and/or health
• Atmospheric Conditions: conditions that affect the skin or respiratory system.
• Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
• May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
• Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
• Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
• Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
• May be exposed to biohazardous
• Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical hazards
• Exposed to odorous chemicals and specimens
• Occasionally exposed to radiation hazards

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support required
• 1 years experience Required Years of Experience
• Education required for certification (Health Sciences)
