Responsibilities Perform complex microbiological analysis of fruit and vegetable ingredients, including basic and advanced testing at a high throughput. Prepare detailed technical reports with recommendations, and interpret data to ensure ingredients meet specifications. Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation—troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair. Organize workflow and task schedules to maximize laboratory efficiency, prioritizing sample analysis and preventive maintenance. Train and instruct laboratory analysts and scientists, both internally and externally (suppliers, technical staff). Lead research projects to develop or validate laboratory test methods and equipment, ensuring reliability and accuracy of analytical results. Perform data audits, including database queries and statistical process control, to verify accuracy of data and analytical processes. Act as a subject‑matter expert in fruit and vegetable ingredient microbiology, providing technical support for investigations and legal matters. Communicate technical information verbally and in written reports to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Recommend new methods or instrumentation to address current and future laboratory needs, applying Operational Excellence principles. Qualifications Proficient in applying established microbiology standards and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Extensive knowledge of microbiology as applied to fruits, vegetables, beverages, and beverage processing. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS) and quality management systems. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to evaluate data to make decisions and provide solutions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently, coach other professionals, and build technical relationships internally and externally. Education Requirements Master’s or Ph.D. in Microbiology preferred.
