English Teacher - 5th Grade

Position: 5th Grade English Teacher (SET) – BASIS Ahwatukee About BASIS Ed College-educated subject experts empower students to reach their greatest potential. Role Overview The SET ensures exceptional day‑to‑day education by preparing and facilitating subject‑specific lesson plans in accordance with the BASIS Curriculum. They tailor lessons to their expertise and passion. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or 24+ credit hours in applicable subject matter with another degree Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in the subject area or education 2+ years teaching/education experience SETs Role in Our Co‑Teaching Model Our K‑3 (or K‑4) classrooms are co‑taught by two elementary teachers who collaborate with the SET. The SET cultivates and implements grade‑ and subject‑specific lesson plans, delivers daily instruction, and partners with the Learning Expert Teacher (LET) to meet student needs. Essential Functions Prepare and facilitate subject and grade‑specific lesson plans. Provide higher‑level instruction in an interactive learning environment to achieve exceptional results. Implement the BASIS Curriculum by designing effective lessons and assessments for international competitiveness. Collaborate with other BASIS curriculum teachers to develop curriculum and build a professional community. Tutor students in content‑specific knowledge and skills to advance academic and career success. Manage student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect, individuality, and respect. Support non‑instructional functions such as “Early Bird,” “Late Bird,” and lunch. Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance. Supervise individual students and/or groups of students.
