Non-Interim Dates: 07/27/2026 - 05/27/2027 Purpose Statement The job of Teacher – Elementary is to provide support to the instructional process, supervise students within the classroom and other assigned areas, develop lesson plans, deliver group and individual instruction, collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators, address instructional and classroom issues, and respond to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. Essential Functions Administers developmental testing programs and subject‑specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and developing individual learning plans. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress. Assesses student progress towards objectives for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration. Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall quality of student outcomes. Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem‑solving techniques, and personal issues. Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners for an effective program. Differentiates classroom work for individualized learning within established lesson plans. Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program. Facilitates student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans. Instructs students to improve academic success. Manages student behavior for a safe learning environment. Monitors students in various educational environments (classroom, playground, field trips, etc.). Organizes age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities for student participation. Participates on PLC team to review data and instructional practices. Participates in staff, district, IEP, 504, and other meetings. Prepares written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for documentation. Reports health and safety issues to the administrator and appropriate agencies. Responds to emergency situations promptly. Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and others. Other Functions Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skills: perform complex technical tasks, upgrade skills, apply assessment instruments, operate office equipment, use software, teach Arizona standards, maintain accurate records. Knowledge: algebra/geometry, read technical information, compose documents, facilitate discussions, analyze situations, laws and regulations, age‑appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, behavioral management strategies. Abilities: schedule activities, collect and classify data, work with equipment, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, exhibit tact and patience, work flexible hours. Responsibilities Work under limited supervision using standardized practices, direct others within a small work unit, utilize resources from other units. Work Environment The job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, fine finger dexterity; 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing; exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury or illness. Experience: Job related experience is desired. Education: Bachelor's degree in a job‑related area. Required Testing, Certificates and Licenses Arizona Teaching Certificate Appropriately Certified in Core Content Area SEI Endorsement Required Continuing Education / Training Ongoing professional development as required by district policies.
