Following the success of our flagship specialty and emergency hospital in Marietta, Georgia, we are excited to announce the opening of our second location in Dunwoody, Georgia, scheduled to open in October 2026. We are actively building our founding Medical Oncology team and are seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs), Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and highly skilled Veterinary Assistants who are passionate about advanced medicine, patient advocacy, and oncology care. Selected candidates will begin onboarding and training at our established Marietta hospital beginning August 2026, providing the opportunity to work alongside experienced specialists and oncology professionals before transitioning into our brand-new Dunwoody facility. You may be an ideal fit if you: Enjoy building long-term relationships with patients and clients Have experience supporting specialty, emergency, internal medicine, or complex medical cases Are passionate about oncology, quality of life, and compassionate patient care Take pride in technical precision and patient advocacy Enjoy educating and supporting pet owners through challenging medical journeys Thrive in a collaborative, specialty-focused environment Want to work alongside highly skilled specialists who challenge you to grow Your Impact as a Veterinary Oncology Technician Provide compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy and advanced oncology therapies Assess patient comfort, quality of life, and treatment response Support recheck appointments and ongoing treatment plans Assist with long‑term management of oncology patients throughout their care journey Prepare and administer chemotherapeutic agents in accordance with established safety protocols Follow OSHA and NIOSH hazardous drug handling guidelines Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Maintain accurate treatment records and medication documentation Support safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemotherapy agents Perform venipuncture, blood collection, and laboratory sample processing Assist with fine needle aspirates, biopsies, and staging diagnostics Coordinate laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging support Prepare patients for oncology‑related procedures and treatments Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, and expected outcomes Discuss treatment schedules and follow‑up care requirements Provide compassionate support during emotionally sensitive conversations Reinforce quality‑of‑life considerations and home‑care instructions Serve as a trusted resource for clients throughout the treatment process Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation Collaborate closely with Oncology, Internal Medicine, Emergency, ICU, and specialty teams Support continuity of care across multiple departments Maintain oncology treatment areas and equipment Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and medical excellence Who We're Looking For Candidates should be able to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the workday Lift, carry, and assist in restraining patients weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance available when appropriate Safely handle animals of varying sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical conditions Perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity, including patient restraint, venipuncture, medication administration, and equipment operation Work in a fast‑paced specialty veterinary hospital environment with frequent movement between treatment, exam, and specialty care areas Communicate effectively with clients, specialists, veterinarians, and team members This position may involve exposure to: Animal dander, fur, saliva, and other animal‑related allergens Chemotherapy agents and hazardous drug handling environments Cleaning products, disinfectants, and veterinary medical chemicals Medical odors, fragrances, and hospital‑related environmental conditions Noise associated with veterinary patient care and hospital operations Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting Experience supporting patient care in Specialty, Emergency, Internal Medicine, ICU, or high‑volume General Practice environments Strong veterinary nursing and patient care skills Confidence with venipuncture, sample collection, and laboratory diagnosticsAbility to thrive in a fast‑paced and emotionally sensitive environment Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Previous experience supporting Oncology, Internal Medicine, Emergency, or Specialty Medicine Chemotherapy administration experience Familiarity with OSHA and NIOSH chemotherapy safety standards RECOVER CPR CertificationStrong client communication and education skills Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Ability to support clients through complex medical decisions Excellent communication and teamwork skills Passion for specialty medicine and continuous learning What We Offer Continuing Education and Professional Development At Dogwood, we believe exceptional medicine starts with exceptional technicians. $3,000 Annual Continuing Education Allowance 2 Paid Continuing Education Days Mentorship from experienced specialists Exposure to advanced oncology cases and treatment protocols Support for advanced certifications and specialty training Opportunities for long‑term career growth within specialty medicine If pursuing advanced credentials or specialty medicine is one of your goals, we want to help you get there.
