Role Description
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President of Finance & Administration serves as a strategic partner in advancing BGCMR's mission, strengthening organizational performance, and ensuring the systems, resources, and infrastructure necessary to support long-term growth and impact.
This role oversees finance, operations, administration, and organizational effectiveness while helping translate strategic priorities into measurable results. The successful candidate will bring a combination of nonprofit leadership experience, financial expertise, operational excellence, and a commitment to serving young people and families.

This position is based in Richmond, Virginia and requires regular on-site presence at BGCMR Club sites, administrative offices, and community events. While work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the role requires flexibility to support organizational priorities, including occasional evening and weekend activities.
QUALIFICATIONS, BACKGROUND, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or human services related field required.
- MBA required; CPA (or equivalent) and substantial financial and operational leadership experience required.
- Strong financial acumen and knowledge of accounting principles and nonprofit finance are preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit operations and/or finance.
- Experience working in mission-driven organizations with funding models rooted in grants, philanthropy, and donor engagement preferred.
- Experience overseeing multiple functional areas (finance, operations, HR, programs) and strategic execution.
- Ability to translate financial and operational data into actionable insights.
- Experience managing teams, developing talent, and building organizational capacity.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Salary: Commensurate with experience - $125K base

Executive Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO in shaping and executing the organization’s vision, priorities, and long-term strategy, including the establishment and oversight of organizational OKRs and KPIs aligned to the strategic plan.
- Lead cross-functional execution of the mission and strategic plan across finance, operations, human resources, and organizational systems, ensuring clear goal alignment, accountability, and performance tracking through defined KPIs.
- Provide timely, data-informed updates, recommendations, and strategic insights to the CEO, Board of Directors, and relevant committees.
- Strengthen organizational infrastructure, systems, and processes to support growth, scalability, and long-term sustainability, including the implementation of performance management systems that track and drive strategic outcomes.
Finance
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning in alignment with strategic goals.
- Drive cross-functional alignment between Finance and Advancement to ensure revenue strategy, grant bookings, and cash flow management are integrated into organizational decision-making and resource allocation.
- Develop financial models, pro formas, and analyses to assess opportunities, risks, and program investments.
- Manage cash flow, financial forecasting, and banking relationships, ensuring alignment between projected revenue, grant timing, and organizational spending.
- Ensure compliance with federal contracts, tax regulations, audits, New Market Tax Credits, and bond requirements.
- Oversee preparation of financial statements, audits, and IRS Form 990.
- Implement and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as staff lead to the Finance Committee and support other Board committees as needed.
Operational & Administrative
- Lead day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring efficient and effective organizational support functions.
- Oversee facilities management, including maintenance, safety, and capital improvements.
- Supervise and support Staff Accountant, Director of Human Resources, and Director of Operations.
- Support monitoring and financial reporting of restricted and grant-funded programs.
- Oversee the organization’s IT contract and vendor relationships, ensuring service delivery, data security, and system performance align with organizational needs.
Risk Management
- Establish, implement, and continuously evaluate internal systems and controls to ensure organizational compliance, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and audit requirements.
- Manage relationships with auditors, legal counsel, insurance brokers, and other external partners.
- Identify and mitigate organizational risks; report key risks to executive leadership and Board.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal : Works closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, program leaders, and administrative staff to ensure alignment and performance across the organization.
External : Engages with Board members, community partners, funders, auditors, financial institutions, legal counsel and other stakeholders.
