Senior Manager, Global PMO, Business Operations

The Global PMO Lead provides enterprise-wide leadership for project delivery governance, portfolio management, and execution excellence. This role drives the adoption of standardized, results-oriented project management practices, ensuring initiatives are strategically aligned, effectively governed, and consistently deliver measurable business value. Through strong stakeholder partnerships, rigorous portfolio oversight, and a focus on outcomes, the Global PMO Lead fosters transparency, accountability, and operational discipline, enabling the successful delivery of the organization's highest-priority initiatives. The GPMO Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the successful delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of business-critical initiatives across the organization, operating within the 4D delivery framework and supported by 4D SmartAlign. This role is responsible for embedding consistent, outcome-focused project management practices, ensuring initiatives are aligned to strategic priorities, and enabling transparency, control, and value realization across the project portfolio. The role combines leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement, with a strong emphasis on practical delivery ensure value is delivered for every project. A key focus of the role is enabling scalable, data-driven decision-making across the business while leading transformation initiatives spanning AI adoption, digital process optimisation, and enterprise change management. This is a highly influential role requiring strong stakeholder management across executive leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams, with significant impact on operational performance, revenue delivery, and strategic growth. Key Responsibilities GPMO Leadership, Governance & 4D Framework Own and manage day-to-day GPMO operations in alignment with the 4D delivery framework Ensure consistent application of 4D phases, stage gates, and artefacts across all in-scope initiatives Champion the use of Smartsheet as the system of record for project delivery, planning, and reporting Ensure projects are correctly initiated, governed, and transitioned through the 4D lifecycle Act as a point of escalation for delivery risks, dependencies, and governance exceptions Portfolio Management, Planning & Reporting Support enterprise demand management, intake, and prioritization using 4D principles Ensure project plans, milestones, dependencies, and benefits are accurately maintained within Smartsheet Provide consolidated portfolio reporting to senior leadership and Board-level forums Monitor delivery performance, adherence to 4D governance, and portfolio health indicators Support strategic alignment of initiatives to business objectives and investment priorities Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership Build strong relationships with executive sponsors, senior leaders, and delivery teams Support sponsors and project leads in understanding and applying the 4D framework effectively Provide clear, proactive communication on project status, risks, and outcomes Ensure business stakeholders understand expectations, roles, and responsibilities within the 4D model Support business cases, investment governance, and prioritisation decisions Continuous Improvement & Capability Development Drive continuous improvement of the 4D framework and Smartsheet usage based on feedback and outcomes Identify opportunities to streamline governance while maintaining appropriate controls Promote best practices, standards, and consistency across the global PM community Support training, onboarding, and adoption of 4D and Smartsheet across the organisation Act as a change agent for improved delivery maturity People Leadership & PM Community Enablement Line manage Project Managers and/or PMO resources as required Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of PM talent aligned to 4D capability expectations Coach and mentor PMs in effective application of the framework, stakeholder management, and delivery discipline Foster a collaborative, high-performing PM community with a shared delivery mindset General Responsibilities Contribute to internal transformation and enterprise-wide initiatives Support project responses, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional programmes as required Perform other duties as reasonably required by leadership Key Skills And Experience Proven experience of 3-8 years in Program Management, PMO or GPMO leadership roles Strong understanding of enterprise delivery frameworks and governance models Hands‑on experience with portfolio management tools and delivery platforms (e.g. Smartsheet or equivalent) Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and delivery levels Pragmatic, outcome-focused mindset with strong attention to detail Comfortable leading change and driving adoption of new ways of working Qualifications PRINCE2 Practitioner (or equivalent) PMP, CAPM, or comparable qualification desirable Behaviors and Competencies Ability to create clarity and alignment around delivery priorities Strong change leadership and influence Clear, confident communication with impact Collaborative and inclusive leadership style Agile, data-driven thinking Consistent delivery of results and outcomesCommitment to developing others and building capability Leadership through influence, credibility, and example MRI is proud to be an inclusive employer.
