Transportation Paramedic (56 Hour)

Gilbert Fire & Rescue's Transportation Division – Transportation Paramedics This is a full‑time, 56‑hour paramedic role focused exclusively on emergency and interfacility medical transport. The Division operates six medic units across eleven stations under direct medical oversight. This position is an at‑will, FLSA non‑exempt role eligible for overtime compensation. It works a 48‑hour schedule with four days off, averaging 112 hours per pay period. The annualized pay range for a full schedule with overtime is $70,886.40 – $106,296.32. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer emergency medical care using accepted guidelines of basic and advanced life support and in accordance with Arizona laws, the Arizona Department of Health Services rules and regulations, regional protocols, Fire and Rescue Department policies and procedures, and base station medical direction. Examine patients and communicate physical assessment findings to base hospital physicians. Administer IVs and injections. Perform CPR, endotracheal intubation, and other advanced airway procedures; apply splints, backboards, and cervical collars. Inventory medical and drug supplies and prepare emergency medical services reports accurately and in a timely manner. Drive and operate Fire and Rescue transportation vehicles and equipment such as suction units, pulse oximeters, laryngoscopes, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, oxygen administration equipment, and mobile radios. Participate in emergency medical services training programs, community service/public safety education events, and other related programs. Support firefighting crews in non-firefighting duties (e.g., rehabilitation sector, medical assistance) and develop an understanding of emergency scene operations and the Incident Command System. About You We are looking for paramedics who take ownership of patient outcomes, hold themselves to a high clinical standard, and perform reliably across emergency environments. The right candidate: Owns clinical quality, adheres to protocols, communicates clearly under pressure, and treats every patient contact as a reflection of the department. Performs consistently in high-stakes environments, whether running a critical ALS call or completing a basic level transport. Documents accurately and completely, with quality reports that directly affect billing, compliance, and continuity of care. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum age 18 at time of hire. Not listed on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) list of excluded individuals/entities (LEIE). Valid Arizona driver’s license by hire date; a satisfactory 36‑month motor vehicle record will be obtained during pre‑employment screening. Current Arizona Emergency Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic certification at time of application. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). Prior experience in a pre‑hospital emergency or interfacility care setting is preferred but not required.
