Dock Supervisor

Responsibilities Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis. Evaluate and oversee the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift. Teach employees safe lifting techniques and use safe lifting as needed. Maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity. Manage, assign, and supervise dock employees to ensure proper utilization of personnel and equipment while meeting safety and customer expectations. Handle all dock work schedules and time‑off requests. Collaborate with the Operations Manager, Assistant SVC Manager, or Service Center Manager to align daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly business objectives. Provide analyses, suggestions, and ideas for process improvement within the shift, department, and facility. Give positive and constructive feedback to employees regarding ROI, MPH, stops per hour, return shipments, missed shipments, delivery/pick‑up errors, and overall productivity. Conduct disciplinary actions as necessary and within the supervisor’s discretion. Perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Ensure that 100% of trailers are loaded correctly and inspected for cleanliness and proper loading/unloading techniques. Operate the AS400, BLU, DYMS, and other freight monitoring systems used within the company. Complete forklift job training, use a forklift as necessary, and inspect that tools and equipment are safe for operation. Conduct daily shift meetings, make quick decisions based on volume levels, and communicate schedules to affected employees. Inspect working conditions of tools and equipment and direct correction of any improper or adverse conditions. Comprehend and enforce compliance with company and government regulations. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least 2 years of operations experience, preferably in the transportation industry. Supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems. Knowledge of general DOT regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Working Days & Shift Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. AM / PM shift. Working days and shift are estimates and are subject to change based on scheduling and business levels.
