Legal Administrative Specialist

Summary The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible. Typical Work Assignments Will Include Evaluating current office systems on the legal support side and propose new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods, utilization of manpower, use of equipment, distribution of work assignments, caseload management, changes in priorities, workflow, and systems development for use by the attorneys and support staff. Performing a variety of administrative work to meet the operational needs of the assigned areas. Providing case management, legal research and overall support to litigation activities of the Criminal Division. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a United States Citizen or National to apply for this position. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To Qualify At The GS-12 Level, You Must Possess Specialized Experience Providing advice and guidance on a wide range of complex litigation support issues; Assisting in case management, legal research and overall support to litigation activities; Analyzing legal and factual issues to determine data needed, methods to obtaining, or relevance of data for cases; Evaluating current office systems on the legal support side to proposes new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods, utilization of manpower, use of equipment, distribution of work assignments, caseload management, changes in priorities, workflow, or systems development for use by the attorneys and support staff. Time-In-Grade Requirements Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. You must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted; recommended SF-50s include promotions and step increases (within grade increases). Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized. Background Investigation To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the Department of Justice requires each and every employee to be reliable and trustworthy.
