Overview of the Role

As a Vehicle Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and testing of autonomous vehicle technology through real-world driving operations and structured data collection. You will manually operate company vehicles during testing sessions, collect and document vehicle behavior data, assist engineers in identifying system issues, and help improve the performance of advanced autonomous systems. This role is ideal for candidates with strong driving skills, high situational awareness, technical curiosity, and an interest in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and emerging technologies.

What You'll Do

Drive company vehicles for up to 6 hours per shift while collecting operational and performance data. Support autonomous vehicle testing and development efforts in real-world driving environments. Observe, document, and report vehicle behavior, system performance, and unusual events. Collaborate closely with engineers and operations teams to troubleshoot and improve vehicle systems. Utilize tools such as Google Workspace, Notion, and internal software platforms for reporting and documentation. Follow structured testing procedures and maintain accurate records of daily activities. Perform vehicle readiness checks before and after testing sessions. Maintain constant situational awareness and practice defensive driving techniques at all times. Adapt to changing procedures and evolving testing requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Valid U.S. Driver's License held for at least 5 years. Clean driving record with no more than 1 violation point. Strong defensive driving skills and ability to maintain focus for extended periods. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Comfortable using technology, software applications, and digital reporting tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured testing procedures. Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review. Authorized to work in the United States.

Disqualifiers

Driver's license held for less than 5 years. More than 1 point on driving record. More than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. Reckless driving conviction. DUI/DWI within the last 57 years. Multiple at-fault accidents. Inability to pass background check, drug screening, or MVR review. Poor communication skills. Lack of interest in autonomous vehicle technology or the role. Difficulty using technology or software tools.

Commitment & Work Authorization

Full-time ongoing W2 contract position. Onsite role based in San Francisco, CA. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
