Assist with lab record keeping and quality control activities.Reports to: Phlebotomist SupervisorSupervision Exercised: NoneEducation/Experience/License/Certification:High school graduate or equivalent with proper training in phlebotomy proceduresGraduation from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program preferredMinimum one (1) year experience as a lab assistant/phlebotomist preferredRequired Travel:Infrequent travel may include limited local travel.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.Performs routine venipuncture & heel sticks appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients, including peri-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, with little or no supervision.Verify and/or record identity of patient and converse with patient to explain procedure as well as allay fear of procedure.Perform daily quality control in the laboratory as needed.Maintain records/logs of lab work performed and provide daily reports to the Director of Laboratory & Infection Control.Assist with identification and labeling of specimens. Stores and distributes specimens.Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments.
