Accountant

Role Description The Accountant role at Pepsi MidAmerica is a full-time, on-site position based in Marion, IL. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. The Accountant will assist with month-end and year-end close processes, support budgeting and forecasting, and prepare internal financial reports and analyses. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing transactions for accuracy and compliance, monitoring accounts payable and receivable activities, and collaborating with operations and leadership teams to provide financial insights. The role also involves supporting audits, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and company policies, and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls. Position Overview The Accountant plays a key role in supporting daily financial operations, partnering with department leaders, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review financial statements Prepare monthly journal entries Assist with month-end close process Reconcile general ledger and sub-ledger accounts Research discrepancies and post adjusting entries Assist departments with operating and capital expenditure budgets Analyze actual vs. budget variances Maintain checkbook and cash controls Meet regularly with department managers to provide financial insight and reporting support Assist with: Income tax return preparation Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Required) Strong knowledge of GAAP principles Experience with general ledger accounting Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and cross-functionally Why Join Pepsi MidAmerica?
