Registered Nurse II - Main Operating Room - Night Shift

Job Description Summary The Main Operating Room is within a level one, academic trauma center. There are 21 operating room suites covering all surgical specialties, including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, Robotics, and Pediatric hearts. The nursing teams consist of 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists. RN’s are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures. The Main OR is a busy, dynamic nurse‑driven, Magnet‑designated department that provides cutting‑edge technology to the citizens of SC. Schedule 24‑hour shift coverage; scheduled work hours: 3‑12 hour shifts, 6:30 p‑midnight to 7 a‑morning, no call. Weekly hours: 36. Shift: Nights. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay at Health‑28 pay grade. Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 for external candidates with a 2‑year commitment. Minimum 2 years of OR experience required. Job Summary / Purpose Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level, utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health‑care team to achieve desired results. Minimum Training & Education Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and complete the BSN within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required. Required Licensure, Certifications & Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical & Mental Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking; climb stairs; work indoors and outside in temperature extremes; work from elevated areas; work in confined/cramped spaces; work from kneeling positions; bend, twist, and squat the waist; perform pinching and gross motor activities with fingers and hands; reach overhead; perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders; use both legs and lower extremities for balance; lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted; lift from 36‑inch floor and overhead 25 lbs; exert up to 50 lbs of force; maintain 20/40 vision corrected; good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity; handle stressful situations; work rotating shifts; work overtime as required; work in a latex‑safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; (selected positions) qualify for respirator use.
