Neurologist Position

The Neurologist is expected to perform all services required in the practice of Neurology in the context of the VA system and his/her clinical privileges; and provide appropriate documentation in the electronic record. Duties include but not limited to:

• Provides direct patient-centered care as delineated in the list of clinical privileges for Neurology.
• Provides comprehensive general neurological care to outpatients, including patient history, neurological examination, diagnosis, follow-up as needed, medical record documentation according to standard and acceptable practices.
• Assimilates the results of diagnostic studies (i.e., EMG, EEG) into the formulation of a differential diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Works collaboratively with other specialists and Primary Care PACT teams to ensure patients receive continuous quality care.
• Prescribes medications according to federal and state law.
• Responsible for the oversight of all aspects of neurologic care delivered to their assigned patients.
• Perform neurologic procedures, such as NCS/EMG, EEG interpretation, and/or Botox administration, commensurate to his/her individual training and expertise, in accordance with local VA credentialing and privileging requirements.
• Provide education to other physicians and healthcare professionals regarding neurological disorders and their treatments.
• Provide education, supervision, and mentoring to Medical students, residents, and fellows in neurological disorders and their treatments.
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient subspecialty duties as assigned, including on-call assignments

Work Schedule: Tour of duty is expected to be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Night and weekend call shared with other Physicians will be required. Alternate schedules may be necessary to meet the needs of the organization and as Veteran needs arise.
