Trauma Service APP – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Assignment Details

• Location: Redding, California

• Specialty: Trauma / Critical Care

• 2 Trauma APPs needed

• Practice Setting: Level II Trauma Center

• Urgent / First-to-Fill Coverage

Compensation: Orientation - $80/hr, Hourly - $160/hr, Holiday - $240/hr.

Coverage Dates

• September 4–6

• October 7

• October 11–14

• October 18–21

• October 24–29

• Specific date availability required at submission

Schedule

• PM shift: 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM

• No surgical first assist responsibilities

Clinical Details

• Trauma Service coverage

• Approximately 20–25 patients on the Trauma Service daily

• Few to zero pediatric patients

• Responsible for monitoring, managing, and discharging Trauma Service patients

• Supports one Trauma Surgeon on call

• Additional Trauma NP/PA works the day shift (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

• EMR: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Perform histories and physical examinations

• Assess and diagnose patients

• Develop and revise treatment plans

• Order diagnostic studies and laboratory testing

• Order therapeutic services

• Initiate admissions and referrals

• Provide ongoing patient management

• Recognize and manage urgent/emergent situations

• Medication management within scope of practice

Required Procedures

• Local anesthesia

• Laceration repair

• Dressing changes

• Drain and suture removal

• Superficial wound debridement and closure

• Basic management of non-displaced fractures

• Removal of superficial foreign bodies

• Hemostasis

• Packing insertion/removal

• Incision and drainage

• Cervical spine clearance

• Chest tube removal

• Partial-thickness burn management (<10%)

• Intermediate laceration repair

• Arterial line insertion

• Fracture reductions with minimal/moderate displacement

• Reduction of simple dislocations

• Central line insertion

• Chest tube insertion

Requirements

• NCCPA or ANCC Certified

• Active California license required

• NPs: Active California NP furnishing number required

• PAs: California Controlled Substance Education Course (CSEC) required

• California DEA required

• ACLS, ATLS, and BLS required

• Trauma/Critical Care experience required

• Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital

• Clean malpractice/background highly preferred

• Local candidates highly preferred; no flights preferred

• Availability must be provided at time of name clear

Credentialing

• Approximately 15–30 days after receipt of a fully completed application

• This is a Trauma/Critical Care APP position

• Surgical assisting is NOT part of the assignment

• Trauma APPs do not provide surgical first assist coverage
