Assistant School Age Instructor

The Assistant School-Age Instructor supports the daily operation of the RIBBA Youth Innovation & Leadership Institute by assisting with student supervision, activity facilitation, academic support, and program operations. The position works closely with the Lead School-Age Instructor to create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that promotes entrepreneurship, leadership, financial literacy, academic enrichment, STEM, creativity, and personal growth. The Assistant School-Age Instructor serves as a positive role model for students and helps ensure compliance with Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS) School-Age Program Licensing Regulations and organizational policies. Responsibilities Student Supervision & Safety Provide active supervision of students at all times. Assist in maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Support positive behavior management and conflict resolution. Ensure student safety during indoor, outdoor, and community-based activities. Program Support Assist with daily educational, enrichment, and recreational activities. Support entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, STEM, MakerSpace, arts, and wellness activities. Assist students with homework, projects, and group activities. Help prepare materials and supplies for program activities. Participate in student business fairs, family events, field trips, and special activities. Family & Team Communication Maintain professional interactions with families and visitors. Support communication efforts as directed by program leadership. Collaborate effectively with Lead Instructors and program staff. Compliance & Operations Follow all DHS regulations, organizational policies, and safety procedures. Assist with attendance tracking, activity logs, and program documentation. Support emergency drills and safety procedures. Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming activity areas. Additional Responsibilities Assist with setup and cleanup of classrooms and activity spaces. Participate in staff meetings and training opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned to support program success. Qualifications Required Minimum age of 18 years. Completion of at least twelve (12) college credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Psychology, Human Services, Youth Development, Social Work, Recreation, or a related field. Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children or youth in a group setting. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff. Ability to successfully pass all required background checks. Preferred Associate degree in a related field. Knowledge of Rhode Island DHS School-Age Program Licensing Regulations. CPR and First Aid Certification. Experience in afterschool, camp, educational, or youth development programs. Required Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to engage and motivate youth ages 9–13. Dependable, organized, and professional. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Positive attitude and commitment to youth development.
