Lease Accountant

HF Sinclair's Lease Accountant conducts complex accounting assignments for the Accounting department with minimal supervision and acts as resource and lead position for less experienced personnel.

Job Duties:

• Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing consolidated lease software to manage and report on HF Sinclair's lease contract portfolio
• Timely executes month-end close for lease accounting by leveraging existing lease information to build and record required journal entries
• Executes regular updates to lease portfolio to ensure completeness and accuracy of recorded lease balances, including assessment / classification of new leases and creation of lease schedules
• Assists in the preparation of monthly/quarterly management lease reporting, as well as ensuring compliance with ASC 842 external lease reporting requirements
• Maintains General Ledger Accounts and account reconciliations
• Analyzes and manipulates various Company and/or financial data and records at a high level
• Monitors the timely completion of routine to complex staff accounting duties
• Oversees day-to-day lease accounting operations
• Completes and may supervise special projects as required
• Provides training and guidance to less experienced staff
• Performs various assigned financial calculations
• May create, coordinate, and maintain assigned schedules
• Prepares and monitors various reports and resolves discrepancies as needed
• May review various contracts, invoices and other financial data to ensure accuracy

Experience: A minimum of five years of job-related accounting work experience is required. Education Level: A minimum of a Bachelors Degree, in accounting, finance, or related field is required. Preferred Education Level: CPA designation is preferred.

Required Skills: Must be able to perform complex accounting analysis and mathematical calculations. Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, experience with accounting, and depending on assignment maintenance software. A broad understanding of accounting practices and procedures is required. Must have advanced reading and writing skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication.

Preferred Skills: Experience in corporate accounting and SAP FI/CO system experience is preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility: Must be able to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency.

Work Conditions: Office based and occasional work in a petroleum refinery. May be required to work flexible hours.
