Registered Nurse II - Outpatient

Job Location and Schedule ChristianaCare is hiring a full‑time Registered Nurse for our pediatric practice in Middletown, DE. The selected candidate will be the solo RN at the Whitehall location and also provide phone triage support for the MAP 2 Pediatric Associates location. The practice serves approximately 20–30 patients per day and supports one or two providers. Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with one half‑day off scheduled weekly; the day is based on practice coverage. Responsibilities Supports the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, including the yearly test and ongoing compliance management. Provides care appropriate to pediatric and adolescent patients, demonstrating required knowledge and skills. Uses a relationship‑based care approach to delivery. Triages walk‑in patients and ensures appropriate disposition. Answers and responds to telephone messages under provider direction. Assists providers with examinations or procedures, administers vaccinations, checks blood pressure, and obtains medication authorizations. Functions as a liaison among patients, physicians, and staff to provide accurate communication. Collaborates with team members to facilitate a smooth, organized, and efficient flow of patients. Responds to patient crisis situations. Ensures adequate coverage within the unit as needed. Provides patient education and wellness counseling. Performs medication histories. Supports the work of medical assistants. Assists with staff education and evaluation of clinical competencies for new and existing employees (MA). Assists with orientation of new personnel to ensure proper training to support patient and provider roles. Performs chart audits or delegates chart audits to a designee. Randomly shadows clinical support staff to ensure appropriate care delivery. Acts as a liaison for JCAHO, POCT, and Tracer monitoring for Safe Practice Behavior Monitoring (SPBM) tools and JCAHO tracers. Administers medications, monitors vital signs, and performs routine treatments and procedures prescribed by the physician, as needed. Keeps current with policies and procedures and participates in quality improvement activities. Participates in special projects. Qualifications Graduate of a state‑approved or National League of Nursing accredited School of Nursing and hold a Delaware RN license or be eligible for licensure in Delaware. Minimum two years’ experience as an RN; physician office experience preferred. BSN preferred; ADN considered with agreement to complete a BSN within three years.
