Maintenance Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems including conveyors, pumps, motors, gears, pneumatic systems, ovens, and automated packaging machinery used in food production lines. Conduct regular preventive maintenance checks on all production and packaging equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Analyze mechanical issues, develop solutions, and execute repairs with minimal disruption to production schedules. Work with production teams to ensure equipment downtime is kept to a minimum and that production targets are met. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, OSHA). Ensure all maintenance tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical failures, often involving cross-functional collaboration with electrical, HVAC, and other engineering teams. Lead and mentor junior mechanics and other maintenance personnel, providing guidance on proper maintenance practices and safety protocols. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during all repair and maintenance activities. Assist with inventory management of spare parts and materials to ensure timely availability for maintenance activities. Participate in the development and continuous improvement of maintenance processes, contributing to cost‑saving initiatives and system efficiencies. Requirements Expertise in maintaining and repairing complex food manufacturing equipment such as ovens, mixers, filling machines, and packaging machinery. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and electrical basics. Experience with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, is a plus. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics. Knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, HACCP) is highly desirable. Experience with automated control systems (PLC, SCADA, etc.). Previous leadership or informal leadership in a maintenance role. Welding, fabrication, or machining experience. Forklift certification or experience operating lift equipment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple priorities. Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, and on‑call as needed.
