The Restaurant General Manager – Multi-Unit Leadership Track is for an experienced, high-performing restaurant leader who is ready to take the next step in their career.

This is more than a General Manager position. You will be responsible for leading one Layne’s restaurant while developing the leadership, operational, financial, and people-development skills necessary to eventually oversee multiple restaurants as a Multi-Unit Manager .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all daily restaurant operations
• Be fully trained and competent in all hourly and management positions
• Develop, coach, and hold managers and team members accountable
• Build a strong management team that can successfully operate the restaurant
• Identify, coach, and develop future managers and leaders
• Create a strong internal pipeline of talent for future growth
• Manage labor, scheduling, and staffing to meet business needs
• Ensure excellent execution of food quality, speed, cleanliness, and service
• Maintain strong operational awareness — knowing what is happening at all times
• Drive store performance using scorecards, reporting, and profitability metrics
• Understand the financial performance of the restaurant and take action to improve results
• Create positive guest interactions by being present and engaged on the floor
• Uphold and exceed cleanliness standards in the front and kitchen
• Utilize company documentation, systems, and checklists to ensure Perfect Every Time execution
• Ensure accurate completion of administrative duties, inventory, and reporting
• Lead by example to build and sustain a positive, high-performing company culture
• Take ownership of the restaurant's performance and continuously look for ways to improve the business
• Partner with leadership to execute company initiatives and maintain operational consistency
• Demonstrate the ability to solve problems independently and make sound business decisions
• Develop the ability to coach and influence other leaders, not just hourly team members
• Represent the Layne’s brand and culture both inside and outside your restaurant

Multi-Unit Leadership Track

This position is specifically designed to develop a future Multi-Unit Manager .

As you demonstrate consistent performance as a General Manager, you will be given opportunities to take on additional leadership responsibilities and develop the skills required to oversee multiple restaurants.

Your development will focus on:

• People Leadership: Building, coaching, and developing strong management teams
• Leadership Development: Creating a pipeline of managers and future General Managers
• Operational Excellence: Consistently delivering PET standards across every part of the restaurant
• Financial Leadership: Understanding sales, labor, food costs, profitability, and key performance indicators
• Accountability: Establishing clear expectations and consistently following up on performance
• Problem Solving: Identifying issues, finding solutions, and taking action without waiting to be told
• Communication: Effectively communicating with restaurant teams and company leadership
• Business Acumen: Understanding how operational decisions impact the overall business
• Leadership Through Others: Learning to drive results through General Managers and management teams rather than doing everything yourself
• Multi-Unit Readiness: Developing the ability to maintain standards, culture, and performance across multiple locations

The goal is to develop a leader who can eventually step into a Multi-Unit Manager role and successfully lead multiple General Managers, multiple restaurant teams, and multiple businesses at the same time.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant management experience
• General Manager experience preferred
• Proven success leading a high-performing restaurant
• Experience developing and promoting managers from within
• Strong understanding of labor management and cost controls
• Understanding of restaurant P&L and profitability
• Experience using scorecards, KPIs, and operational reporting to drive results
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
• Driver's License
