Position Overview:

This role involves conducting diagnostic assessments of lung function in patients experiencing respiratory challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer prescribed pulmonary function tests and pulmonary stress evaluations. Observe and assess patient reactions during and post-testing, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of results.
• Establish reference ranges for tests and interpret outcomes, identifying and rectifying any invalid results.
• Prepare, maintain, and calibrate pulmonary function testing apparatus. Ensure sufficient supplies are available for testing and address any equipment issues by reporting necessary repairs or replacements.
• Offer educational resources and support to patients and their families based on clinical findings.
• Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment at all times.
• Carry out additional tasks as required.

Educational Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Regular verbal communication is essential for sharing information.
• Frequent standing and walking are required.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of items weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Frequent visual acuity for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation.
• Regular olfactory recognition for detecting odors.
• Frequent auditory skills to receive verbal communication and identify sounds such as alarms or machinery malfunctions.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and assisting with patient mobility.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Occasional driving may be required.
• Rarely involves crawling or running.

• Respiratory Care Practitioner, Registered - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

For Missouri:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

For Oklahoma:
