Shipping and Receiving Specialist

This position is responsible for accurately receiving incoming materials, preparing and shipping finished products, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring all shipments are processed safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role involves working in a warehouse and cleanroom setting, operating material handling equipment, and supporting production and quality activities while maintaining high standards of organization and data accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Unload trucks safely and transport materials to designated storage locations within the warehouse and cleanroom areas.
• Accurately enter receiving and shipping information into inventory management and ERP systems to maintain up-to-date records.
• Pick, pack, label, and prepare customer orders for shipment according to established procedures and quality standards.
• Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate outgoing shipments with transportation providers to meet delivery timelines.
• Perform inventory transactions, including cycle counts and stock replenishment activities, to support inventory control.
• Maintain organized warehouse locations with proper material identification and labeling to support efficient operations.
• Operate forklifts, stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other material handling equipment safely and effectively.
• Support production by handling materials such as films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions in accordance with safety and cleanroom protocols.
• Conduct quality checks and tests in the cleanroom, including performing multiple measurements per pouch and documenting results.
• Collaborate with machine operators and production personnel to communicate and correct defects identified during quality checks.
• Work closely with coworkers in the lab and on the production floor to maintain a team-based, cooperative environment.
• Follow all cleanroom requirements, including wearing appropriate PPE and steel-toed shoes, and adhering to lab rules such as no fragrances and no phone use.
• Ensure that all shipping, receiving, and inventory activities comply with internal procedures and support regulatory requirements for healthcare-related products.

Essential Skills:

• 1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics roles preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts, stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
• Experience in warehouse, inventory, logistics, picking, packing, and packaging operations.
• Ability to use inventory control tools, RF scanners, ERP systems, and data entry processes accurately.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems, ERP software, and shipping platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment with lab and production personnel.
• Comfort working with materials such as films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions while following safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in production or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Exposure to medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or life sciences products is a plus.
• Ability to perform repetitive measurements and quality checks with a high degree of accuracy.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with transportation providers and internal teams.
• Willingness to train on first shift before transitioning to assigned shift.
• Ability to consistently follow cleanroom protocols, including PPE usage and adherence to lab rules.

Work Environment:

This role operates on two primary shifts: first shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and second shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Training will take place on first shift for approximately 46 weeks. You will work in both warehouse and cleanroom environments, handling materials such as films, foils, chemicals, and peelable solutions. The position requires wearing PPE and steel-toed shoes and following cleanroom rules, including no fragrances and no phone use in the lab. Work is team-based, involving close collaboration with coworkers in the lab and production personnel on the production floor. A significant portion of the role involves seated work in the cleanroom, performing multiple measurements per pouch during quality checks alongside several colleagues and communicating any defects to machine operators for correction.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.95/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
