MRI Technologist

Location: New York, NY
Duration: 9 Weeks
Schedule: 4×10-hour shifts

• Wednesday: 9:30 AM–8:00 PM
• Thursday: 9:30 AM–8:00 PM
• Friday: 9:30 AM–8:00 PM
• Saturday: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM

Travel Gross Weekly: $2,900–$3,100/week (based on experience)
Local Rate: $80–$85/hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to operate and prepare specialized magnetic resonance imaging equipment and perform MRI procedures in accordance with established protocols and patient needs.

The MRI Technologist will use appropriate technical judgment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety, equipment standards, and departmental procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform MRI imaging procedures according to established protocols.
• Position patients and appropriate MRI coils to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
• Provide patients with clear information regarding the imaging procedure, area being examined, and any required instructions.
• Review all patient MRI safety screening questionnaires before allowing patients into the MRI scan room.
• Ensure all MRI images are accurately labeled according to department standards and procedures.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and completeness.
• Ensure completed images are transmitted to PACS in a timely manner.
• Complete all required studies and documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS) in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness of the MRI room and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift, including removal of soiled or dirty linens.
• Scan and maintain patient-related documentation as required.
• Maintain adequate supplies and accessories necessary to safely perform MRI procedures.
• Accurately record required patient tracking information in the Radiology Information System.
• Schedule imaging examinations in the Radiology Information System as required.
• Report equipment malfunctions, repair needs, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor or personnel.
• Assist physicians directly with procedures when required.
• Coordinate transportation or notification of inpatient patients as needed.
• Perform related clerical and administrative duties in the absence of support personnel.
• Maintain strict MRI safety standards and prevent the introduction of ferromagnetic materials into restricted MRI areas.
• Follow infection control policies and protocols to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
• Attend required in-service training, professional development sessions, and departmental meetings.
• Maintain all required professional licenses, certifications, and credentials in good standing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Strong understanding of physical sciences and MRI physics.
• Excellent technical skills related to MRI imaging.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to follow established imaging protocols and maintain patient safety standards.

Preferred Experience

• 2 years of MRI experience preferred.

Required Education

• Graduate of an AMA/JRCERT-approved Radiologic Technology program .

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current New York State License in Diagnostic Radiology .
• ARRT MRI Registry .
• Current BLS/BCLS Certification .
