Principal Product Designer - AI

Work Mode: In-person (30 Hudson Yards, NY). CNN is seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead consumer AI experiences across user-facing digital platforms. This is a senior-level individual contributor role focused on shaping how millions of users engage with news through generative interfaces and conversational agents. You will lead design innovation on high-impact digital surfaces through smart and delightful AI features. The ideal candidate incorporates deep fluency in AI technologies and a passion for news media to develop bold user experiences, from content discovery to personalization. Your Role Accountabilities Develop and steer a bold UX vision for consumer experiences through AI features. Collaborate on a roadmap for high-impact features like personalized feeds and conversational agents. Identify user needs and conduct rapid prototyping to test and validate features. Guide overall UX strategy using research and analytics to identify designs that uniquely solve pain points. Serve as a thought leader for ethical and responsible AI design in the media landscape. Qualifications & Experience 12+ years of work experience in product design with a track record in consumer products. 3+ years working with AI/ML technologies (LLMs, recommendation systems, or generative interfaces). Mastery of Figma , prototyping, and utilizing complex design systems. Strong understanding of AI fundamentals and comfort partnering with data scientists. Data-driven approach with experience refining designs based on key business metrics. Pay Range: $189,700.00 - $352,300.00 salary per year.
