Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatrist

Position Summary Full‑time Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatrist in the Division of Psychiatry at Phoenix Children’s. Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment: perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations; collaborate with medical, therapy, and nursing teams to review patient histories and conduct diagnostic assessments. Treatment Planning: develop individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and family involvement; address co‑occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. Intervention and Management: provide crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute episodes; monitor effectiveness of interventions and adjust treatment as needed. Multidisciplinary Teamwork: work closely with mental health therapists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals; participate in case reviews and team meetings to ensure cohesive treatment planning. Family Support: communicate with families to educate them on the child’s diagnosis and treatment plan; offer guidance on how families can support recovery and well‑being. Training and Education: provide mentorship or supervision to fellows, residents, and medical students; participate in continuing education to stay current on pediatric psychiatry advancements. Patient Care Services Provide direct patient care services on inpatient and outpatient basis, including subspecialty consultations and follow‑up. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures; provide urgent/emergent care as necessary. Strive to achieve best patient and family centered care; support hospital satisfaction goals; adhere to patient safety and quality standards; practice evidence‑based medicine. Divisional Responsibilities Establish and demonstrate effort to achieve annual physician goals and objectives. Support medical education programs: supervise trainees and allied health professionals; conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences; participate in postgraduate continuing education. Support research endeavors and programmatic growth of division; assist satellite efforts when appropriate. Professionalism Treat colleagues, employees, and customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect. Promote safe, cooperative, and professional health‑care environment. Support Phoenix Children’s mission, vision, and values. Other Activities Support the Division Chief as liaison to professional community and general public. Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside Phoenix Children’s if they support division clinical and teaching programs. Represent Phoenix Children’s in medical and business communities and to the general public in a professional manner. Education & Licensure Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited medical school. Completion of a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.
