I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a third party insurance coverage attorney in Miami for a client firm. This is a coverage role, not a defense role with coverage sprinkled on top, and it needs someone who already does this work.

Day to day

• Advising insurers on third party liability coverage: duty to defend, duty to indemnify, exclusions, additional insured and other insurance issues

• Drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters and declination letters

• Litigating declaratory judgment actions in Florida state and federal courts

• Handling coverage questions around bad faith exposure, tender disputes and allocation between carriers

• Working directly with claims professionals and coverage counsel at carriers

To be considered

• Third party insurance coverage experience is essential. This role isn't suited to someone looking to move across from general litigation

• 2+ years of practice, with a meaningful share spent on third party coverage

• Florida Bar license

• Clear, careful writing that a claims professional can act on

How it grows

Experienced coverage attorneys will lead the complex multi party disputes, argue the dispositive motions, become the first call for carriers and mentor others in the group. The pay range is wide on purpose, so seasoned coverage lawyers and counsel are paid properly for what they bring.

Terms

• $125,000 to $200,000, based on experience

• 1,900 billable hours

• Hybrid working in Miami

• A route to partnership for attorneys who build carrier relationships

Third party coverage is a small world. Good coverage lawyers are hard to find, and the strongest ones are often underused at firms where coverage sits as a side line to defense work. If you want a seat where coverage is the work, rather than an occasional assignment, this deserves a conversation.
