Overview This position determines eligibility and administers all phases of the financial aid process to include all federal, private, campus based, and non-campus based financial aid programs for the students. Counsels current and prospective students and/or parents regarding student's individual aid eligibility while maintaining confidentiality of protected information. Works collaboratively with various University departments and staff to ensure accurate financial aid related data is provided to students. Performs other duties as needed. Responsibilities Determine eligibility and administer all phases of the financial aid process for eligible students across federal, private, campus-based, and non-campus-based programs. Counsel current and prospective students and/or parents regarding individual aid eligibility while maintaining confidentiality of protected information. Collaborate with University departments and staff to ensure accurate financial aid data is provided to students. Perform additional duties as needed in support of the financial aid office functions. Education and Experience Bachelor\'s degree required. Equivalent experience in higher education involving duties, responsibilities, and qualifications similar to those described in this document may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor\'s degree. Minimum of two years finance or accounting related experience required. Financial aid experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills Computer data input and 10-key calculator proficiency. Able to write legibly; speak and read English with professional quality. Proficient with computers, printers, and software programs necessary to the position; able to troubleshoot and operate basic office equipment. Essential Interpersonal Skills: ability to work with a team to accomplish goals; professional, confidential communication with students and/or parents by phone, in writing, and in person; ability to influence cooperation and follow a course of action; positive, professional interaction with others; adaptability under pressure; ability to accept direction. Essential Mental Abilities: ability to think quickly, understand basic mathematics and accounting principles, interpret data, develop and follow up on plans, analyze and solve problems; follow complex instructions and work independently; proofread documents for content and accuracy. Essential Sensory Abilities: ability to communicate on the phone in a noisy environment; adequate hearing for general conversation; adequate vision to read computer screens and documents.
