It is home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States. We provide cardiac surgical recovery care to patients requiring ECMO/ECLS, total artificial hearts, LVADs, heart and lung transplants, CABGs, valves, care for patients with adult congenital heart defects and many more mechanical cardiac support devices. ACSU is recognized as a PLATINUM level Center of Excellence in caring for ECMO patients. Healing Broken Hearts – As home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach is vital. Patient Care Model: RNs, ECMO specialist and Nurse Technician support. Ratios: 1:1 Nurse to patient ratios. Our leadership team acts as a support system to all team members, focusing on their growth and development. Many team members are part of the Professional Excellence Program as well as nationally certified critical care nurses. World Renowned Team – We are honored to work with world renowned Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Critical Care Medicine Physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers. These individuals host an array of specialties that include cardiac anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery, criticalcare medicine, ECMO, pulmonology, and vascular surgery. AdventHealth is a U.S. top-tier leader in ECMO volumes. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary. Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions. Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance. Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record. Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and interventions continuously, making necessary adjustments to improve patient health and achieve positive outcomes. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe healthcare environment. Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and their families, addressing their emotional and psychological needs. Supervise and delegate care provided by members of the healthcare team to ensure quality and efficiency. Engage in continuous professional development and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Respond to code situations promptly and effectively, providing necessary interventions to stabilize patients.
