Laboratory Technician

This role provides day-to-day laboratory and operational support to the Sterile Product Development group, which spans formulation, process, engineering, packaging, and device development. The technician ensures labs are stocked, equipment is maintained, and materials are available so scientists and engineers can execute development work without interruption. Success in this role means reliable lab operations backed by clean, well-organized records. Key Responsibilities Perform routine material preparation, including buffers, solutions, and staging of formulation, device, and primary packaging components (e.g., syringes, cartridges, stoppers, sub-assemblies, bottles, blisters) for development studies Manage chemical, raw material, and component inventory across formulation, device, and packaging materials: receipt, labeling, lot traceability, storage conditions, expiry tracking, and reorder Prepare and manage test samples across formulation, device, and packaging studies ? assembly of test builds, conditioning (temperature/humidity), labeling, and sample tracking/chain of custody Serve as first-line support for laboratory equipment, routine cleaning, calibration coordination, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, spare parts management, vendor escalation, and downtime tracking Maintain data hygiene across lab records and systems ? consistent naming and metadata, complete and legible entries, timely logging, and accurate inventory, sample, and equipment data Operate and maintain additive manufacturing equipment (FDM/SLA) to produce prototypes, fixtures, and device mockups supporting engineering, packaging, and device teams; handle print setup, material selection, and post-processing. General Job Duties Performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized machines and work aids. Performs laboratory work according to prescribed standards. Determines chemical and physical characteristics or composition. Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments. Preferred candidate has four years of post-secondary education in field of specialty. Some companies may accept equivalent education and experience combined. Tests for such qualities as purity, stability, viscosity, density, packaging and device testing etc. Collects and analyze samples. Tests samples to verify conformity to specifications. Records test results and writes test reports describing procedures used. Prepares lab material for cleaning. May prepare graphs and charts. May prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas. May add chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or product batches to correct or establish formulation required to meet specifications. May calibrate laboratory instruments. May perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform weekly lab safety review for labs and verify functioning eye washes, lab phone functionality. Resolve safety issues through direct action with staff or placing facilities work orders. Education And Experience Required- Bachelor of Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or related discipline 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
