Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides direct patient care to adult psychiatric patients, including monitoring, safety checks, and assisting nursing staff in a specialized mental health setting. Assesses patient needs, performs clinical tasks, and ensures a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals with various psychiatric diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct safety checks, room checks, and vital sign assessments regularly.
• Observe patients closely, document behaviors, and escalate concerns as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and perform phlebotomy and blood glucose checks.
• Support nursing staff by managing patient rounds and administering IM injections when required.
• Maintain environment safety by utilizing CPI de-escalation techniques and restraint protocols if unavoidable.
• Complete weight measurements, documentation, and assist with patient admissions and discharges.

Qualifications:

• Possess at least 1 year of experience in psychiatric healthcare.
• Hold current BLS, PCT certification, and de-escalation training.
• Demonstrate competency in vital signs, phlebotomy, and IM injections.
• Ability to work effectively within team-based mental health care settings.
• Exhibit strong observation and patient safety skills.
• Be flexible to float across adult psychiatric units and adapt to varying patient needs.
