Director, Cell Therapy Vein-to-Vein Operations

AstraZeneca seeks a Director to lead Vein-to-Vein Operations for cell therapy, overseeing the transition from reactive logistics to proactive end-to-end patient and product orchestration. The role requires building organizational capability, governance frameworks, and scalable operating models while ensuring compliance and patient-centered service delivery across global expansion.

Responsibilities

• Lead organizational design, governance framework, and execution performance across end-to-end patient and product journeys
• Establish and operate 24/7 global control tower for real-time product and patient monitoring with proactive intervention capability
• Own exception management, escalation playbooks, and cross-functional decision pathways for off-path events
• Build and manage courier and logistics provider engagement ensuring real-time visibility and coordinated recovery actions
• Drive operational readiness, performance management, and continuous improvement across the Vein-to-Vein Operations function

Requirements

• 10+ years logistics operations in pharma/biotech, or 8+ years with advanced degree; cell therapy experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Life Sciences, Operations, or related field
• 12+ years relevant experience in biopharma supply chain, cell therapy operations, or clinical logistics leadership
• Proven success leading complex operational organizations with people leadership and operating model design accountability
• Deep expertise in patient orchestration, order management, traceability, slot execution, and cold chain logistics
• Experience building scalable operating models, control tower capabilities, and cross-functional governance in regulated environments
• Track record supporting clinical-to-commercial transitions and operational scale-up in complex cell therapy settings
