This position can be home based. The position will report to the Sr. Director of CPG PPR & Secondary Fiber and will work with multiple groups and disciplines throughout operations and technical centers to improve asset performance, reliability and overall manufacturing competitive position. The position will provide support focused on the consumer products group mills but will support all of GP manufacturing as needed.This position is expected to apply PBM and Frameworks to proactively support the development and execution of improvement plans for Pulp & Bleaching manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive results, creating superior value to meet GP’s manufacturing vision.What You Will DoComply with Environmental, Health and Safety expectations in all activities with the objective of achieving zero incidentsProactively help identify Environmental, Health and Safety hazards and risks and collaborate with the appropriate resources to reduce risk of incidentsDevelop strong relationships with constituents in Operations, Engineering, and Business teamsPerform benchmarking for asset health and asset performance related to pulp and bleaching operations and help develop and execute plans to drive improved performanceAnalyze existing systems and develop strategies for improving safety, reliability, efficiency, asset uptime, quality and manufacturing cost while collaborating across facilities and support teamsCollaborate with remote monitoring resources to develop and optimize monitoring strategies for asset health and operation Support facility outages from planning and scoping work through execution of the outages (typically on-site) and ensure adherence to good maintenance planning, execution and GP standardsIdentify capital improvement opportunities and partner with sites and engineering teams on development, execution, commissioning and start-up of capital projectsCreate value through technical support of multiple mill operations and being a valued resource in their day-to-day operationsProvide “urgent care”, both remotely and in-person, when needed to address operational upsets and problems in facilities Actively support the Technical Development Program (TDP) for engineers and leaders in pulp and bleaching through mentoring, on-site training, training material development and board review assessment of traineesSupport the development and implementation of Design, Operate, and Maintain (DOM) standards for associated systems and assets for pulp and bleaching operations Work with manufacturing sites to adhere to DOM standardsPersonal AttributesProven demonstrated capability of leading through influence and working with and through large cross-functional teamsPersonal technical knowledge and experience in pulp and bleaching manufacturing/operations with demonstrated capability to drive sustainable improvement in manufacturing results including safety, environmental performance and competitive positionStrong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships at all levels of an organizationDemonstrated process engineering capability with equipment sizing, troubleshooting and optimization and experience with heat and material balances/dynamic modeling Strong financial and analytical skills, with ability to collect, distill, and analyze data to identify key insightsAbility to recognize potential issues, identify alternatives, and make recommendationsDemonstrated team/group facilitation experience – meetings, knowledge sharing, problem solving, etc.Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a preference for Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pulp & bleaching operations engineeringKnowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of the design, construction, operations and maintenance of assets in scope of responsibility. Demonstrated experience in process improvement and process optimization Demonstrated experience in projects and implementation of project activities.Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, sometimes on short-noticeWhat Will Put You Ahead10+ years of experience in the pulp & bleaching operations and engineering with experience in secondary fiber processing a plusExperience in secondary fiber processingFor this role, we anticipate paying $130k - $200k per year (depending on experience).
