BIO members are involved in the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotechnology products. BIO also produces the BIO International Convention, the world’s largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, along with industry-leading investor meetings and partnering events held around the world. The Vice President, Content Strategy & Industry Programs is responsible for establishing BIO’s content strategy and intellectual leadership across the organization’s conferences, executive forums, educational initiatives, investor programs, emerging learning platforms and educational delivery models. This senior leader will ensure BIO’s content portfolio advances the organization’s mission, strengthens its competitive position and creates measurable value for members, partners, and the greater biotech industry. As BIO’s senior leader for content strategy and thought leadership, this role identifies emerging industry trends, anticipates the evolving needs of the global biotechnology ecosystem, and develops innovative educational experiences that strengthen BIO’s position as the premier convener of the biotechnology industry. Reporting to the Chief Events & Industry Programs Officer, the Vice President leads the Industry Programs team while serving as a trusted advisor across the organization on industry trends, emerging issues, and educational strategy. Working collaboratively across the organization, this leader ensures that BIO’s intellectual capital is leveraged to advance the organization’s mission, deepen member engagement, create new business opportunities, and drive measurable financial performance. Ensure consistency, quality, and strategic alignment across all educational and content initiatives. Industry Programs & Educational Strategy: Lead the strategic development of educational programming across BIO’s portfolio, including the BIO International Convention, executive forums, investor programs, summits, and new educational ventures. Establish performance metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of content, programming, audience engagement, and revenue initiatives to continuously improve organizational performance. Develop innovative learning formats that increase engagement and deliver measurable value to members and attendees. Establish standards of excellence for content quality, speaker selection, and attendee experience. Ensure programming reflects the eclectic biotech industry while remaining differentiated from competing events and organizations. Industry Thought Leadership: Identify opportunities for BIO to convene industry leaders around emerging topics before they become mainstream. Serve as an internal subject matter expert on biotechnology industry trends and emerging issues. Represent BIO externally at conferences, meetings, and strategic industry engagements. Advise BIO leadership on industry developments, opportunities, and risks that may impact BIO’s strategic priorities. Cultivate relationships with C-level executives, investors, researchers, policymakers, patient advocates, government leaders, and global thought leaders. Organizational Collaboration: Partner closely with Policy, Membership, Communications, Marketing, Industry Partnerships, National Security & International Affairs, and Event Operations to ensure content strategies support the organization’s objectives. Serve as a strategic resource to leadership on initiatives extending beyond the Events & Industry Programs Department. Collaborate with other senior leaders to identify opportunities where BIO’s intellectual capital can strengthen advocacy, membership, partnerships, communications and revenue generation. Leadership & Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Industry Programs team while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and accountable team culture. Establish clear priorities, measurable performance expectations, and professional development strategies that empower team members to achieve individual and organizational objectives. Build organizational capability by attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent while cultivating a strong leadership pipeline to support BIO’s long‑term growth. Inspire and empower the team to embrace change, drive continuous improvement, and deliver exceptional results in support of BIO’s strategic priorities. Content Monetization & Business Growth: Develop and implement revenue‑generating strategies that leverage BIO’s intellectual capital through conferences, executive education, digital products, premium content, sponsorship opportunities, and other emerging business models. Create educational products, executive programs, and premium experiences that expand BIO’s year‑round value proposition. Partner with Industry Partnerships to develop innovative sponsorship opportunities that enhance educational programming while preserving editorial integrity. Identify opportunities to monetize content through executive education, digital learning, subscription‑based products, research briefings, and other emerging business models. Collaborate with Membership to create educational offerings that drive member acquisition, engagement, and retention. Evaluate the financial performance and return on investment of programming initiatives, using data to inform future strategy and investment. Champion innovation across BIO’s event portfolio by identifying new business models, educational formats, technologies, and engagement strategies that position BIO ahead of industry trends. Continuously assess competitive conferences, educational offerings, and market trends to identify opportunities for innovation.
