Plumber

PLUMBER

Knowledge of building and plumbing codes. Knowledge of regulations regarding sanitary plumbing system installations. Ability to install and repair water heaters, water coolers, pumps and other equipment. Ability to read blueprints and schematics. Ability to read and follow instructions. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to use tools of the trade. Ability to work as an effective team member. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs. Ability to operate power pipe cutting and threading machines.

To install and maintain plumbing in schools and district facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

(1) High school diploma or equivalent.

(2) Experience in all fields of plumbing.

(3) Valid Florida driver's license.

(4) Journeyman card preferred.

(5) Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

Install, maintain, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures. Install, maintain, and repair lift stations and septic tanks. Install, maintain, and repair water and drainage systems. Install, maintain, and replace pumps of all types. Install, maintain, and replace electric water heaters. Install water lines, drains, and piping. Install and repair drinking fountains. Install portable water systems. Inspect drain fields and grease traps. Pump lift stations and drain fields. Request materials and supplies and layout projects to minimize waste. Perform all work according to specifications and plumbing codes. Respond in emergency situations. Design plumbing systems as required. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Meet and deal effectively with staff members, students, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment. Follow attendance, punctuality and other qualities of an appropriate work ethic. Ensure adherence to good safety standards. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Model and maintain high ethical standards. Maintain knowledge and skills in assigned area to fulfill position goals and objectives. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment. Exercise service orientation when working with others. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events, including observed repair needs and safety discrepancies. Use effective, positive interpersonal communication skills. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner. Document labor hours and materials used on assigned tasks, accurately and promptly. Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member. Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations. Demonstrate support for the school district and its goals and priorities. Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement. Respond to work orders and submit them when the job is completed. Participate in cross-training activities as required. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.

Support Personnel Pay Grade 12 250 days worked per year (12 months) FLSA Non-Exempt.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
