Summary

Meets and greets customers, explaining programs and rates associated with both day guest and lodging guest admissions, reservations, and season passes. Processes and issues the appropriate ticket or pass, upselling whenever possible. Gives general information about goods and services available on and off property, events, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

Lift Ticket Sales Duties:

• Explaining the RFID technology and the best practices for taking care of the media.
• Explaining season pass types to customers, selling appropriate season passes, accepting payment and processing pass, including the taking of photo identification.
• Explaining ticket types to customers, selling appropriate ticket types, and receiving cash or processing credit card transactions.
• Issuing "Snow Checks", when authorized, on occasions while following standard issuance protocol.

Miscellaneous Duties:

• Greeting guests with a professional demeanor and answering questions in an accurate manner.
• Working with guests to optimize their visit with additional products and services as appropriate.
• Orienting guests by explaining where they can get the goods and/or services that they desire, both on and off property.
• Remaining current with scheduled on-site events and directing customers to the correct locations of these events as well as explaining any costs involved.
• Checking email daily and responding to guests in a timely manner.
• Receiving telephone calls and giving a variety of information, including "What is the weather like?" and "How to get to Jay Peak," from various geographic points.
• Talking with concerned guests to discern their needs, proper resolution and/or locating the appropriate manager who can assist them.
• Troubleshooting various problems that the guest may encounter, including the loss of personal belongings or other property, missing persons, etc.
• Performing general cashiering duties and staying up to date on how to process coupons, discounts, etc.
• Responsible for individual cash handling. Preparing cash ups at the end of the day and submitting necessary paperwork as backup.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Prior guest service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous cash handling experience preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and write common business levels of correspondence, memos, and formatted letters. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract three and four digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of both American and Canadian money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to deal with issues that may arise and apply problem solving skills. Must have the ability to deal calmly with customers in sometimes difficult situations.

Computer Skills Must have basic computer skills. Experience operating a Point-of-Sale system preferred. Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft experience preferred but not required.

Other Skills & Abilities Must have exceptional interpersonal and customer communication skills and friendly attitude, as well as the ability to work in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment. Proper phone etiquette required.

Other Qualifications Must have professional appearance and demeanor. Must be available for work on weekends, evenings, and/or holidays as needed.

We consistently experience very busy lines and business levels.

Resort Conditions This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
