TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.Position DescriptionThis position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash-handling responsibilities.Major/Essential FunctionsAnswer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and relay messages to the appropriate nurseAccurately enter and update patient demographics to ensure clean insurance claim submissionsRespond quickly to patient and insurance company inquiries, including prior authorizations and referrVerify insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations before scheduling appointmentsMake outgoing calls to patients for appointment reminders, rescheduling, and general clinic communicationDocument all communications in EMRHandle daily cash transactions, including accepting payments and performing end-of-day cash countsAttend and actively participate in monthly departmental meetingsMaintain current knowledge of department and HSC policies and procedures to ensure complianceOccasional DutiesOccasional travel to Odessa and Midland campusesRequired QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED1 year Customer Service, office, or related experienceAdditional education may substitute for the experience requirementPreferred QualificationsMedical clinic experience scheduling appointments, receiving patients, verifying insurance, and processing chargesElectronicMedical Records (EMR) and Cerner experienceBilingual English/SpanishRequired AttachmentsResume / CV BenefitsTTUHSC is committed to creating an environment where our team members can do their best work, with programs and benefits to support head-to-toe well-being.
