Payroll Specialist

A leading organization in the wine and spirits distribution industry is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations and human resources administration. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining payroll records, supporting compliance efforts, and serving as a key resource for employees and management on payroll-related matters. Responsibilities Process weekly payrolls while ensuring compliance with company pay practices, time‑off policies, and applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations. Review and verify employee time and attendance records, resolving discrepancies with managers and employees as needed. Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure accurate processing of new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, and payroll deductions. Maintain and update employee information within the HRIS/payroll system. Balance payroll data and review preliminary payroll reports for accuracy prior to final processing. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, deduction issues, and payroll production concerns. Maintain payroll records in accordance with federal and state record‑keeping requirements. Stay current on payroll tax regulations, wage laws, and system updates impacting payroll administration. Generate standard payroll reports and create custom reports to support business needs. Serve as the primary liaison with ADP regarding payroll processing, system configurations, and issue resolution. Respond to payroll‑related inquiries from employees and management in a professional and timely manner. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 4 years of payroll processing experience. Experience administering multi‑state payroll and payroll tax requirements. Knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and payroll regulations. Experience working with HRIS/payroll systems, preferably ADP. Understanding of union payroll and benefit administration is highly preferred. Salary: $28–$30 per hour. Shift: First.
