Supervisor of Special Education

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Supervisor of Special Education, within the Office of Special Education.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in school or District level administration
• Minimum of four (4) years successful experience in teaching special education or providing related services within a special education or intervention program
• Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment and instruction
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods
• Ability to plan, organize and administer a District-level professional development program
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of New Jersey Administrative Code Title 6A Chapter 14
• Knowledge of special education placement, compliance, and electronic database that stores Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
• Ability to complete comprehensive special education reviews, including recommendations for programmatic improvement and compliance management

Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

• Management and Coaching of Instructional Staff
• Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
• Organizational Leadership

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Salary, Employment Period and Union Affiliation:

• Salary: $107,500 - $143,500
• Employment Period: Twelve (12) Months
• Union Affiliation: City Association of Supervisors and Administrators (C.A.S.A.)
