Job Title: Laborer Job Description

The laborer plays a key role in safely handling, sorting, and processing materials both at the branch and at off-site events. In this position, you support the paint department with material separation and disposal, operate material handling equipment to move and load products, and assist with inventory and labeling. You may also optionally participate in weekend events, working in a team to educate customers, properly sort materials, and ensure products are loaded and documented accurately.

• Support daily operations at the branch by separating materials and assisting primarily in the paint department.
• Dump paint into 100-gallon tanks, accurately handling water-based, latex, oil, cement, and rubber-based paints according to established procedures.
• Load and unload product from the back of semi-trucks using pallet jacks or forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
• Place labels on products once they have been processed or disposed of properly to ensure accurate tracking and compliance.
• Assist with inventory activities, including counting, documenting, and organizing materials received and processed.
• Load and unload trailers, ensuring materials are secured and handled according to safety guidelines.
• Operate fork trucks and other mobile equipment to move containers to and from storage and treatment areas and to load and unload trailers.
• Optionally participate in weekend events (typically Friday through Sunday) as part of a team of 310 people.
• At events, help sort and place materials into the correct bins based on type and disposal requirements.
• Load products into the back of semi-trucks at events, maintaining safe lifting and handling practices.
• Engage with customers at events, thanking them for their participation and providing basic education on proper material disposal.
• Separate and label materials at events based on their type and destination, maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
• Use an iPad to take pictures of inventory and materials received from customers to support tracking and reporting.
• Work safely around loud alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles, maintaining awareness of surroundings.
• Collaborate effectively with team members in both branch and event settings to meet operational and safety goals.

• Experience with material handling and general labor tasks in an industrial or warehouse environment.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, fork trucks, pallet jacks, and other mobile material handling equipment.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in both field and branch settings.
• Comfort working in a team environment and interacting directly with customers during events.
• Ability to use an iPad or similar device to take photos and document inventory received from customers.
• Capacity to work safely around loud alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles.
• Willingness to work a MondayFriday swing shift from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Experience with packing, picking, and inventory support in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Familiarity with labeling and separating materials based on type and disposal requirements.
• Comfort working in small to medium-sized teams (310 people) in both branch and event settings.
• Interest in participating in weekend events (FridaySunday) as optional additional work.
• Willingness to complete Hazwhoper training, with certification provided at no cost.
• Strong communication skills to thank and educate customers about proper material handling and disposal.

This role is based at a branch facility with the option to work at off-site events. The primary schedule is Monday through Friday on a swing shift from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You work in an industrial environment that involves handling various types of paint and other materials, using forklifts, fork trucks, pallet jacks, and mobile equipment to move containers between storage, treatment areas, and trailers. The setting includes semi-truck loading docks and active vehicle traffic, with loud alarms and warning sounds from trucks, cars, and commercial vehicles, requiring consistent attention to safety. At events, you work outdoors or in event spaces in teams, sorting materials into appropriate bins and loading products onto trucks. The environment is hands-on, physically active, and focused on safe material handling and accurate inventory documentation using tools such as iPads for photographing and tracking materials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
