Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician Department: Engineering & Maintenance Location: Central Islip or Hauppauge, NY Employment Type: Hourly Salary Range: $24.00 – $32.00 Work Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM Job Description To support the upkeep and functionality of facility infrastructure, utilities, and cleanroom environments in compliance with pharmaceutical cGMP standards, ensuring all facility systems operate efficiently and safely to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on facility systems including HVAC, boilers, plumbing, lighting, compressed air, and water systems. Monitor and maintain cleanroom conditions, ensuring compliance with environmental and cleanliness standards. Assist in the upkeep of utility systems such as boilers, chillers, air handling units, and purified water systems. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Conduct facility inspections and report any safety, cleanliness, or equipment performance issues. Support preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records of work performed. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and GMP requirements during all maintenance activities. Take temperature, pressure, and humidity readings of clean rooms. Operate utility equipment such as boilers, air compressors, dust collectors, etc. Maintain the utility area and housekeeping of the spare store. Perform repair and maintenance of rooms for painting, wall/ceiling/door/lighting/plumbing work, recording it in GMP documentation. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized facility services. Handle heavy lifting, bending, ladder usage, and height work as required. Exert force and use a hand truck to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects as specified. Wear appropriate PPE at all times. Conduct checklist‑based inspections and record results following good documentation practices. Operate and maneuver scissor lifts and other lift equipment. Assist manufacturing and packing departments with room cleanings for light removals and duct section removals. Be prepared to wear respiratory devices where necessary. Provide immediate feedback to the supervisor on unsafe equipment or conditions. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area with all equipment fully functional. Flexibility to work extended hours (weekends/holidays) to meet manufacturing schedules. Qualifications and Experience ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Facility Maintenance preferred. 2‑5 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical or GMP‑regulated environment. Basic understanding of cleanroom operations and utility systems. Familiarity with maintenance documentation and safety procedures. Skills and Competency Hands‑on technical skills.
