FIRE ALARM SERVICE TECHNICIAN Full Time – Long Island City, Queens, NY, US Requisition ID: 1268 Salary Range: $30.00 To $60.00 Hourly The Service Technician – Fire Alarm Division will directly oversee all duties and tasks of this functional discipline. You will report directly to the Service Manager – Fire Alarm Division and manage the daily responsibilities related to this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Live Our Values! Understand Total Fire Protection’s strategy, business, and growth initiatives. Possess the knowledge relevant to interpret the servicing and maintenance of Fire Alarm systems. Identify and restore system trouble conditions, understanding code requirements, manufacturer’s specifications, and customer service practices. Conduct site surveys, system inspections, identify deficiencies, and write service tickets as required. Apply knowledge of Fire Alarm and related detection and notification systems. Be familiar with NFPA 72, including recent updates, and the intent of the code. Understand NYC and Long Island local building codes and fire alarm requirements. Have general knowledge of fire systems, fire detection, mass notification, smoke management, egress codes, and egress systems. Possess general knowledge of fire alarm system installations for varied applications. Communicate technical issues orally to supervisors, managers, project engineers, contractors, and field technicians as well as nontechnical personnel. Write reports and facilitate effective internal and external communication. Required Skills and Experience Five (5)+ years of experience in Fire Alarm Service-related work. Five (5)+ years of proven experience in Fire Alarm Systems, both conventional and addressable types. Knowledge of interior and exterior wiring and repair of electrical equipment and circuits. Five (5) years of experience servicing low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems. Certifications (preferred): NICET certification in Fire Alarm, Manufacturer’s Programming Certifications, FDNY S98 Certificate of Fitness. Collaborate and provide support to TFP team members and clients, including interfacing with Building/Fire Officials and contractors as necessary. Excellent Electrical Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Skills. Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other Microsoft products. Valid driver’s license with driving record meeting company requirements. Ability to travel depending on assigned geographic location. Availability for Emergency On-Call Services as needed.
