About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (Inpatient Surgery Unit) – North Carolina

Start Date: November 23, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), 36 or 48 hours per week; every other weekend required; floating as needed; no call required

Highlights:

• Combined acuity unit serving adult medical-surgical and surgical step-down patients with diverse surgical and trauma cases
• Patient ratios of 1:6 with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
• Epic electronic medical record system with 24 hours of dedicated floor training following hospital orientation
• Contract lengths of 13–26 weeks available; first-time travelers with strong experience will be considered
• Manage patients requiring specialized equipment including wound vacs, chest tubes, various drainage systems, and NG tubes
• Care for a wide range of surgical procedures and trauma patients including post-operative cholecystectomies, appendectomies, amputations, and trauma injuries

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical/telemetry nursing experience (1 year considered for highly experienced candidates)
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Comfortable managing 1:6 patient ratios in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Proficiency with central line care, IV management, blood product administration, and wound care
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available)
• Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as needed
