DCPerf Datacenter Benchmark Suite Developer

Payrate: $95.00 - 100.00/hr.

Summary: DCPerf is Company's strategic, open-source datacenter benchmark suite. It captures the diverse production workloads that run across Company's server fleet — including the social graph data store (TAO), recommendation systems, Instagram/Django, web serving (HHVM), and the data warehouse — through a set of representative macro-benchmarks, microbenchmarks, and integrated performance-monitoring and reporting tooling. DCPerf is a critical input to new hardware bring-up and the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, and is used in close collaboration with industry partners such as AMD, ARM, and NVIDIA to tune hardware and project future CPU generations. Maintaining DCPerf's accuracy, representativeness, and ease of use directly shapes the hardware design and procurement decisions for Company's datacenters. In this role, you will help sustain and extend DCPerf's benchmarking, automation, CI/CD, and reporting infrastructure, and contribute to active initiatives such as DCPerf containerization and DCPerf Mini.

Responsibilities

• Execute DCPerf and other industry-standard benchmarks across all generations of servers in Company's datacenter. Gather, analyze, and report benchmark results together with the relevant performance, micro-architecture, and power data — supporting both DCPerf benchmark updates and the NPI process for evaluating new server hardware, to validate benchmark behavior and surface performance problems.
• Develop and maintain DCPerf's open-source installation flow and both internal and GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests in DCPerf, and continuously improve test coverage.
• Develop and maintain DCPerf's automation and result-reporting pipelines.
• Drive DCPerf containerization to further reduce the operational burden for DCPerf's internal and external users and make it easier to use, including: (1) developing a self-contained, pre-built benchmark package internally; and (2) developing and releasing open-source DCPerf container images to GitHub.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of industry experience in software development.
• Strong coding, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting.
• Proficiency with Linux command-line tooling, including basic coreutils and performance-analysis / function-profile tracing tools.
• Proficiency in data analysis, SQL, and data visualization.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git tooling, and container development (such as Docker or Kubernetes).
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and CPU architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and fluency with AI-assisted coding tools (such as Codex or Claude Code).
• Intermediate-to-expert knowledge of computer systems and CPU architecture, and/or prior industry experience in a relevant area.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Cross-team collaboration skills.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $95.00 - $100.00 /hr. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
