As an Applied Scientist, you will own the end‑to‑end product, user experience, design, and technology needed to deliver state‑of‑the‑art recommendation and personalization experiences for millions of Amazon customers worldwide. You will develop AI solutions that run at scale, work collaboratively with engineers and product managers, conduct rigorous offline and online experiments, and publish research in top conferences. Key Responsibilities Develop AI solutions for Prime Video Recommendation and Personalization systems using deep learning, generative AI, reinforcement learning, and optimization techniques. Design, implement and launch AI solutions end‑to‑end in partnership with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders. Design and conduct offline and online (A/B) experiments to evaluate solutions based on in‑depth data analysis. Communicate technical and non‑technical ideas effectively with teammates and stakeholders. Stay current with advancements and the latest modeling techniques in the field. Publish research findings in top conferences and journals. Day in Your Life You'll leverage foundation models to connect information about videos and customers from multiple data sources, tackling cold‑start problems and discovering niche interests. Working with large data sets, you will guide ML practitioners, collaborate with engineers and scientists, and present your work at internal and external conferences. Basic Qualifications PhD or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience. 5+ years of building machine learning models for business application. Proficiency in Java, C++, Python or a related language. Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning. Preferred Qualifications Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit‑learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, SciPy, etc. Experience with large‑scale distributed systems such as Hadoop or Spark.
