The Events Production sub‑team collaborates with Event Managers to transform ideas into well‑organized, immersive experiences that resonate with audiences and achieve business goals. About The Role GreenLight is sourcing for an exceptional Event Producer (Contract) to join the Global Events team at OpenAI — someone who thrives in the controlled chaos of live production and knows how to turn ambitious ideas into beautifully executed experiences. In this role, you’ll help bring some of OpenAI’s most visible moments to life — from developer events and global launches to product‑driven experiences, enterprise events, and entirely new formats we haven’t invented yet. You will partner closely with teams across product, marketing, research, and leadership to translate big ideas into real‑world productions that feel seamless, thoughtful, and distinctly OpenAI. As a Producer, you’ll own the full production lifecycle: shaping concepts, building plans, managing vendors and partners, running timelines, and ensuring every detail lands with precision. The role sits at the intersection of creativity and operational excellence: equal parts builder, problem‑solver, and calm presence when the stakes are high. Our team takes pride in craft, notices the small things others miss, and moves fast without sacrificing quality. Responsibilities Manage stage productions by overseeing content production, stage management, and AV coordination to ensure seamless stage execution from rehearsals to live production. Collaborate on event execution strategies with event managers and business DRIs, shaping event plans and aligning on vision, objectives, and goals to deliver impactful experiences. Support creative production by collaborating with creative teams to bring bold ideas to life, translating the vision into every detail of the event, and managing creative vendors and partners onsite to deliver exceptional experiences. Source and negotiate vendors, identifying and securing top‑tier vendors, agencies, and suppliers while negotiating contracts and building lasting partnerships. Oversee risk management and contingency planning, securing necessary permits and insurance while managing risks and resolving onsite issues to keep events running smoothly. Track budgets and financials by managing event production budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring events stay within allocated limits. Coordinate project management, overseeing detailed project workbacks, facilitating weekly progress meetings, and keeping teams aligned on timelines and deliverables. Qualifications 7 years of experience in production, stage management, event production, agency event management, or similar roles. Deep value in bringing your whole self to work, celebrating differences in perspectives, and prioritizing joy in projects. Proven track record of managing budgets over $500k. Thrives in fast‑paced environments and enjoys working across multiple events. Understanding of stagecraft, nuanced transitional scripting in show flow development, and how to translate brand values to stages and screens. Strong working knowledge of full‑stack event audio‑visual elements, including Audio, Video, and Lighting. An understanding of fundamental video and audio signal flows in event and broadcast environments is a plus. Hunger and desire to stay on top of the latest cutting‑edge event technology and to elevate and drive improvement in event quality. Demonstrates strong cross‑functional team management experience, fostering open communication, embracing a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, and bringing your true self to work every day.
